Q&A: How Can I Effectively Accelerate My Personal Growth?
We all have the same amount of time in a day. It’s just a matter of what you choose to prioritize.
Feel like unwinding after work, having a beer, and watching tv? That’s cool, but just know that you are making a deliberate choice to prioritize that relaxation over other activities that could be more beneficial to your personal growth.
The internet is a bit of a double-edged sword when it comes to this balance between priorities. We now have access to all of humanity’s collective knowledge, which means that you can work on bettering yourself every single day for free, without leaving your living room. The downside, however, is that many of us just use this amazing tool to watch crime dramas or scroll through strangers’ vacation photos.
Don’t get me wrong. We all need time to chill out, and if that means watching trashy tv or browsing social media, I’m not judging. We all just need to realize that every action is a choice, and there is an opportunity cost to everything you do.
So, start taking a closer look at how you choose to spend your 24 hours. Just like you create a budget for your household expenses, you can create a budget for your time. Figure out what are you unconsciously prioritizing and the value you place on each activity. You may find that your time would be better spent.
