Q&A: What is the One Outlook Change Necessary to Succeed as an Entrepreneur? #MichaelsWilder #ask #askmeanything #askmikespeer Click To Tweet

To succeed as an entrepreneur, you need to love the process. If you’re not excited to wake up every day and get to work, then you’re better off in a different working environment. As an entrepreneur, you need to be willing and wanting to put in more hours, more effort, and more emotional investment than anyone else. That just isn’t possible unless you’re in love with the journey—both the highs and the lows.

You need to completely change your mindset. Remember that failure is always a chance to learn, and success is always a chance to set new, more ambitious goals. If you’re an entrepreneur, you have to be prepared for setbacks and resilient enough to bounce back.

Too many people start out with dreams of striking it rich and kicking back, but being an entrepreneur isn’t that easy. It’s not like having a traditional job. You can’t unplug from work at 5 p.m. You don’t get a dental plan and paid vacations. There’s no one to support you if you mess up.

So, forget what you think you know about being an entrepreneur because it isn’t glamorous. Forget about the money, the status symbols, the reputation. That’s all bullshit. You need to love what you do because this is a hard path to walk, and if you aren’t in love with this journey, you won’t get very far.
